Elder's 2007 self-titled debut set the stage for their later progressive sound, blending psychedelia with stoner rock and doom. This deluxe reissue includes an extra LP featuring the band's initial recordings, never before on vinyl. Originating in 2006 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Elder's early incarnation mixed sludgy riffs, primitive black metal vocals, and Genghis Khan-themed lyrics. After a year, they transformed into the trio of Nick DiSalvo (guitar), Jack Donovan (bass), and Matt Couto (drums), releasing their first album, "Elder," showcasing them as formidable riff-dealers. The album hints at their genre-blending prowess seen in later works, reconstructing massive riffs into epic psychedelic soundscapes, with unique touches like growling, delay-soaked vocals, and spacey keyboards defining their stoner doom style.
