‘Dresses’ is the follow up album to 2010’s well received ‘Little Me Will Start A Storm’.
The band hail from Portland, Oregon, USA and have been the project of singer and songwriter Ritchie Young since 2003.
The album had an array of well known producers and mixers working on it, such as Doug Jenkins (Portland Cello Project), Tony Lash (Elliott Smith / Dandy Warhols), Chris Funk (The Decemberists) and artists Kelly Blair Bauman and Peter Broderick.
‘Dresses’ is a spectacular and moving piece of work. Employing piano, cello, flugelhorn, vibraphone, dulcimer, banjo, belle plates and, perhaps most affectingly of all, some dazzling choral arrangements.
The album evokes comparisons to such contemporaries as The Mountain Goats, Grandaddy and The Decemberists.
